Coronavirus Information

Nassau County Water Supply Superintendents,

Please refer to the following guidance from the Nassau County Department of Health.

According to the USCDC, ”the COVID-19 virus has not been detected in drinking water. Conventional water treatment methods that use filtration and disinfection, such as those in most municipal drinking water systems, should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.” The attached technical brief from the World Health Organization (WHO) also describes how an adequately chlorinated public water system should render the virus inactive.  Therefore, it is important to make sure you are maintaining sufficient chlorine residuals throughout your distribution systems.

Please refer to the attached factsheet on precautions the public can take concerning the coronavirus.
